The province welcomed an estimated 23.4 million visitors in the first nine months of 2026, generating tourism revenue of VND 57.922 trillion (USD 2.2 billion), up more than 38 per cent from a year earlier, according to the provincial Tourism Department.
Phu Quoc alone received an estimated 8.573 million visitors, including more than 1.9 million international arrivals, up more than 60 per centyear-on-year. Tourism revenue on the island exceeded VND 45.97 trillion (USD 1.75 billion).
An Giang currently has more than 1,160 accommodation establishments with over 38,800 rooms, including 21 five-star properties.
The Tourism Department said visitor numbers had risen strongly, with demand focused on island, ecotourism, cultural and spiritual tourism experiences.
As part of its tourism promotion efforts, the province has proposed stepping up efforts to establish direct scheduled and charter flights linking Japanese cities with Phu Quoc.
The tourism sector is also conducting surveys in preparation for investment in tourism infrastructure, including access roads and facilities at several attractions across the province.
Ahead of the 2027 APEC summit, An Giang plans to review and inspect tourism businesses in Phu Quoc and develop criteria for recruiting liaison officers and volunteers, as well as provide training for personnel serving the event.
An Giang aims to welcome more than 27.9 million visitors in 2026, including about 2.525 million international arrivals, and generate more than VND 73.98 trillion (USD 2.8 billion) in tourism revenue.
