President begins attendance at APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting

President Truong Tan Sang arrived in Beijing, China on November 9 for the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders’ Meeting at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

President Truong Tan Sang arrived in Beijing, China on November 9 for the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. 
His participation in the meeting on November 9-10 is to signify Vietnam's policy of continuously integrating into the world, pursuing a higher degree of multilateral diplomacy and strengthening relationship with regional partners as a contribution to APEC’s common concerns and key points of its agenda. 

The Vietnam delegation was welcomed at the airport by APEC organizing board representatives, the Vice Chairman of Beijing Municipal People's Council, Vietnam Ambassador to China Nguyen Van Tho along with Vietnam Embassy and Vietnamese community representatives in China.

President Sang is due to have bilateral meetings with leaders of APEC member economies and executives of leading businesses around the globe. On the theme “Shaping the future through the Asia-Pacific Partnership”, the meeting will concentrate on issues related to connectivity, the birth of a regional free trade area, and emerging concerns in economic and trade collaboration. 

As many as 15 documents are expected to be adopted, including a statement of senior officials and a joint statement of the ministerial meeting.

President Sang and his delegation has arrived in Beijing for the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting.
President Sang is expected to deliver a speech at the APEC CEO Summit 2014 on enhancing regional connectivity - the priorities for investment, infrastructure and policies and chair dialogues with major business representatives in the region.

The 12 economies from the 21- member organization are currently negotiating the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement, including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States and Vietnam, along with China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Russia, Taiwan (China) and Thailand.
