Cao Thi Hoai Phuong, 35, from Binh Hung Hoa Ward in Binh Tan District is now in the 6th month of pregnancy for the third child.

Phuong said that her family became more difficult when her second child Nguyen Ngoc Thinh, who is now seven years old, was diagnosed with lymphoma.
According to Phuong, Thinh initially faced some swollen spots in his chest. They then spread to his neck. Doctors at the Children Hospital No.1 in Ho Chi Minh City said that he suffered from lymphoma which had partially damaged his lung.
Over the past two years, he has experienced surgery and then chemotherapy treatment. Besides the assistance from healthcare, his family has to cover some kinds of medicines. To date, her family has incurred a big debt.
The couple has considered the treatment suspension due to their financial difficulty.
Phuong now only stays at home to take care of her son. The family income only depends on That who works as a painter and motorbike driver (xe om) and earns little.
According to doctors, Thinh’s treatment regime would be prolonged and changed with different kinds of medicine, but the family is too poor to cover this.
