Nguyen Manh Cuong in Nghi Loc District’s Nghi Van Commune became the family breadwinner.
His mother Nguyen Thi Linh, 56, showed signs of mental diseases after graduating from high school. Following treatment, she saw great improvement.
Linh has been facing mental problems for many years
However, her condition worsened again after being raped by a stranger in 2008. After that, she became pregnant and gave birth to Cuong. Since then, she has only stayed at home and had almost no contact with anybody else, except for her family.
To date, Cuong has not yet discovered who his father is.
His mother often loudly screams and leaves home to wander outside. Sometimes, she passes out in bed. Cuong and his mother only depend on the subsidy for the poor household.
Cuong has become the family bread winner
The family is too poor to cover Linh’s treatment. So she is tortured by her disease.
In the morning, Cuong goes to school and picks up snails and crabs in the afternoon to earn money. He is facing the risk of dropping out of school due to financial difficulties.
Phan Cong Van, chairman of the Nghi Van Commune People’s Committee, said local authorities will call for community support for the family. He hoped that donors would join hands to help them.
