At the meeting, Le Hong Anh who is also the Special Envoy of the Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed the Vietnamese Party, State and people’s recognition of high importance on consolidating a long-term comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China.
“In the context of the fast-changing global situation, the two sides should strengthen cooperation in dealing with disagreements to work towards a peaceful and stable environment aiming to improve people's living conditions in each country.”
The Vietnamese Party official suggested senior leaders should work hand in hand to give proper directions to relevant agencies on the full implementation of the agreement on fundamental principles on resolution of issues at sea between Vietnam and China, thus contributing to peace, stability, prosperity in the region.

For his part, President Xi Jinping also reiterated that the Party, Government and people of China attach great importance to developing the ties of friendship and cooperation with Vietnam, adding China will work together with Vietnam to make the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic partnership grow and flourish in the time to come.
Hong Anh used the occasion to extend invitations from Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Truong Tan Sang to General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to re-visit Vietnam soon.
Xi Jinping accepted their invitation, expressing his desire to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.

Earlier the same day, Anh had talks with Liu Yunshan, member of the Politburo and Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee’s Secretariat on a number of issues related to relations between the parties as well as the two nations.
Anh said the two countries’ leaders need to enhance their roles in driving their bilateral relations back to normal development boosted by friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stabilization, a future-oriented outlook, and meeting the fundamental and long term interests of the two countries and the region.
Regarding the East Sea issue, Politburo member Le Hong Anh noted that due to the recent difficult circumstances and tense relations between the two countries, leaders should directly instruct relevant ministries and agencies to maintain negotiations in order to seek basic, long-term solutions acceptable for both sides while actively studying “transition” solutions and promoting expert group meetings on the Gulf of Tonkin.
Liu Yunshan, in turn, said his nation greatly values the Vietnamese special envoy’s visit and hoped that this high level-meeting play an important role in solving the remaining differences between the two countries, increasing exchange visits and cooperation between the two parties and states and developing friendship between the two countries in this new period.
