Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centre (Vietnam MRCC) transported a crew member from a Panamanian crude oil tanker in waters off Nha Trang City to hospital.
At 6:00 on August 9, Vietnam MRCC under the Vietnam Shipping Lines received the signal to call for help from Panamanian ship Oriental Jade.
Crew member F. Zeletic saved Nha Trang City
Nguyen Xuan Binh from Vietnam MRCC’s Nha Trang Maritime Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centre, said that the 159,000 tonne-oil tanker was travelling from UAE to South Korea.
When the ship was 141 nautical miles from Nha Trang City, one of its crew member named F. Zeletic suddenly suffered from high blood pressure, vomited blood and then lost consciousness.
The Vietnam MRCC contacted the ship to provide first-aid instructions and then sent a boat to treat the crewman.
At 9 pm on the same day, the crew member was taken to Nha Trang Port.
