Vietnam confirmed an additional 8,176 new Covid-19 infections in 52 localities on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 8,163 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 52 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (985), An Giang (695), Dong Nai (674), Binh Duong (623), Dong Thap (382), Binh Thuan (369), Tay Ninh (332), Soc Trang (299), Vinh Long (288), Tien Giang (274), Kien Giang (274), Bac Lieu (273), Ca Mau (243), Dak Lak (228), Khanh Hoa (209), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (204), Binh Phuoc (184), Can Tho (146), Thai Binh (134), and Tra Vinh (134). There were 13 imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed a decrease of 288 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 3,705 infections found in the community.
As of Sunday evening, 1,021,493 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (447,428), Binh Duong (243,497), Dong Nai (78,073), Long An (36,536), and Tien Giang (20,780).
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,026,522. The country now stands 37th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On November 14, an additional 5,257 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 863,311.
On Sunday evening, a further 64 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 23,082. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (22), Kien Giang (8 ), An Giang (6), Binh Duong (5), Tien Giang (5), Tay Ninh (4), Binh Thuan (2), Can Tho (2), Bac Lieu (2), Ninh Thuan (2), Hanoi (1), Ha Giang (1), Dak Lak (1), Dong Nai (1), Dong Thap (1), Vinh Long (1).
Vietnam on November 13 administered more than 1.09 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 98.93 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 34.60 million people having received two doses.
