On the morning of August 26, after the storm passed, fishermen rushed to salvage engines, equipment and belongings from their damaged vessels.

Le Xuan Tien, a local fisherman, said his boat and machinery were completely destroyed. “This storm was too strong, even though we anchored carefully, the waves still sank and broke the boats. Mine cannot be repaired, it is a total loss,” he said.

Nearby, another fisherman stood in despair, estimating repairs to his vessel would cost several hundred million dong, a sum far beyond his family’s means.

According to Thien Cam authorities, this was the strongest storm to hit the area since 2017. Initial reports confirmed more than 40 boats were sunk or severely damaged.
