Another flight carrying 301 passengers with Covid-19 passports landed safely at the Van Don Airport on September 23.

The passengers are all Vietnamese people in Europe.

The flight which was operated by the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines was the fourth to have applied the new quarantine rules by the Ministry of Health.

Under the new rules, all the fully vaccinated passengers will be quarantined for seven days instead of 14 days.

After undergoing the mandatory quarantine period, they shall have to isolate themselves at home for another seven days.

The airport received the first flight with 297 Vietnamese passengers from Japan on September 4 when the rules were first applied. Two more flights carrying 345 passengers from the US landed safely at the airport on September 12.

According to director of Van Don International Airport, Pham Ngoc Sau, all four pilot flights transporting passengers with Covid-19 vaccine passports had been successfully operated, creating hopes for resuming international trading activities and welcoming foreign tourists.

"We'll work carefully with concerned departments and agencies on the outcomes of these flights before conducting more such flights in the future," he said.

Earlier, talking at a meeting on September 9 after the first flight was carried out, Foreign Ministry's vice spokesperson Doan Khac Viet said that they expected to soon launch the pilot ‘vaccine passport’ policy to welcome international tourists.

Under the policy, foreign tourists who wish to visit Vietnam shall be required to get two vaccine jabs, with the second one taken at least 14 days and not more than 12 months before the date of entry.

Besides, all international tourists must also test negative for Covid-19 via the PCR method within 72 hours before their departure.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just agreed in principle with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's proposal on a pilot plan to welcome international tourists with vaccine passports to Phu Quoc Island in the southern province of Kien Giang for six months from October.

The Party leadership of the south-central province of Khanh Hoa which is home to Nha Trang City has also given the green light to a scheme to receive back foreign visitors with a vaccine passport in the new normal status.

Under a scheme drafted by the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, foreign visitors will come to Khanh Hoa on charter flights. Priority will be given to groups of tourists who choose to stay at beach resorts, use self-contained services, play golf, and rarely move.
