Up to over 200 people in the northern province of Hai Duong had close contact with a Covid-19 infected woman.
The woman has been confirmed to be linked to the new variant of coronavirus after having close contact with the 32-year-old woman from the same province, who had tested positive upon arrival in Japan.
The woman, Patient 1552, who works at Poyun Company in Hai Duong, is now being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh District.
Pham Duy Tuyen, director of Hai Duong’s Centre for Disease Control, said that up to 237 people have been defined to have close contact with her.
Local authorities have continued searching for other related people to both of the women.
Kim Dien Village in Chi Linh City has been locked down after the 32-year woman tested positive to Covid-19 upon arrival in Japan. Poyun Ltd. Co. where the 34-year-old woman works has also been temporarily closed.
The centre has provided Covid-19 tests for 2,253 people who are vulnerable to Covid-19 infection due to potential contact with the two women.
