The incident occurred at around 3:30 on July 3 at Hong Van Beach in Hong Tien Commune. The water scooter exploded and caught fire when being towed to the shore, causing the operator to be slightly injured.
Illegal ski jet operations in Co To tackled
Following the case, the authorities decided to set up an inspection team to deal with operations of such vehicles which have not yet been allowed in the locality.
The team conducted an inspection of recreational activities at Hong Van Beach, and found unlicensed water scooters.
Co To Island authorities have received complaints from residents and tourists regarding illegal operations of water scooters, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.
