Officials banned from using state vehicles to attend festivals

Even though officials were banned from using state vehicles for personal use, many vehicles have been spotted at festival grounds during working hours.

The ban was issued by the chairman of Hanoi People's Committee, Nguyen The Thao, on February 7.

Thao asked directors of departments and authorities at all levels to supervise their officials. He also directed the Department of Home Affairs to carry out inspections to ensure public services are carried out in a timely manner.

The Department of Public Security, Department of Transport and the Police Department of Firefighting and Prevention were asked to ensure traffic safety and punish overloaded and speeding vehicles.

At the same time, Thao assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to cooperate with local authorities to manage and supervise festivals in their areas.

In an attempt to strengthen the administrative rules at state agencies, the chairman of Thanh Hoa Province People's Committee also banned officials from using state vehicles to attend festivals.

In the document, he stated that, because discipline is often lax just after Tet, heads of all agencies must strictly deal with violations in the office. If the media and people discover any officials violating regulations, they can report such cases directly through the hotlines.

Below are photos of vehicles with blue and red license plates near several festivals in the northern region:
