At around 5:30 pm on Sunday, Vietnam Railways Corporation successfully conducted a test run with a technical train through Bai Gio Tunnel.
Around an hour later, the first freight train was allowed through the tunnel.

Bai Gio Tunnel on the North-South rail line has reopened.
Tunnel repairs were completed one day earlier than scheduled.
Le Quang Vinh, director of Phu Khanh Railway Operation Branch, said that Bai Gio Tunnel has been tested safe to be put into operation again.
On April 12-13, landslides hit Bai Gio Tunnel, causing 200 cubic metres of soil and rocks to fall onto the track.
The tunnel incident has caused large amounts of freight to be stuck at railway stations. Some companies hired container trucks to transport goods which are easy to spoil such as farm produce. This has further inflated their costs.
Meanwhile, the railway sector had to use vehicles to transport 3,500 people on trains from Khanh Hoa to Phu Yen stations every day.
