Approximately 600 people were killed and 690 others injured in 1,046 traffic accidents that occurred in April, according to a report released by the National Traffic Safety Committee.

The report said that 1,036 of the accidents occurred on roads, claiming 592 lives and injuring 689 others. The number of accidents and injuries fell by 35 and 62 cases respectively compared to the same period last year, while the number of deaths increased by 71 cases.
In April, seven accidents were reported on railway, killing five and injuring one. Meanwhile, there were two accidents on waterway during the month.
According to the committee, a total of 3,808 traffic accidents were reported in the first four months of this year, claiming 2,276 lives and injuring 2,431 others. The number of cases and injuries fell by 694 and 801 cases, respectively, while the number of deaths rose by seven compared to the same period last year.
