According to the Haiphong Department of Agriculture and Environment, local irrigation operators had largely completed servicing and trial operations of the main flood-drainage pumping stations as of May 3.
Many stations, including Thuong Dong, Sinh Dan, Hoang Lau and Cong Hien, completed maintenance and testing in mid-April.

The pumping stations are equipped with 7 to 22 pumps each, with average capacities ranging from 12,000 to 88,000 cubic metres per hour.
Irrigation companies have also deployed additional mobile pumps in flood-prone areas to support emergency drainage operations.
An Hai Irrigation Works Company has added four mobile pumps, while Tien Lang Irrigation Company has deployed three more units for flood prevention.
Of the city’s 42 main drainage pumping stations, 35 are operating at full design capacity, five are functioning normally, while two ageing stations, Bat Trang and Quang Hung, are operating at only around 50 per cent efficiency due to deterioration.
