The draft was made at a four-day meeting that concluded on April 8 between the Government’s Central Peace Making Work Committee and the ethnic armed groups’ National Ceasefire Coordination Team (NCCT).
At the meeting, both sides agreed to the titles of the seven-chapter draft and discussed the detailed agenda of the next talks set for the first week of May.
The draft comprises of aims and objectives, issues related to a ceasefire, ways and means to consolidate it, a guarantee for entering into political talks and tasks to be continued for implementation.
If the signing of the draft is successful during the next talks, Myanmar will end its six decades of internal conflicts and a political dialogue would take its place to strive for peace in the country, local observers said.
