Many roads to the district have seriously been damaged. Some sections have been even covered by tonnes of stone and soil in landslides.

Local authorities are mobilising bulldozers to deal with the landslides to ensure traffic for the affected roads.

National Highway 15C, the main route to the district, is suffering from serious landslides.

Mud has flowed into many households by National Highway 15C section running through Pa Hoc Village, Nhi Son Commune.

By August 5, many areas in Muong Lat were still isolated.

By the end of August 4, Typhoon Wipha had left three dead and 12 others missing in Thanh Hoa Province. It also damaged 183 houses, four schools, 17 hectares of forests and many road sections, causing property losses of over VND1 billion (USD43,500) for the province.
