The scene of the accident
According to the Hau Giang Traffic Safety Committee, the incident occurred at around 9am on National Highway 61 when a 33-year-old man was riding a motorbike carrying his 32-year-old wife and their two children, aged two and four.
While passing through Tan Binh Commune in Phung Hiep District, the family’s motorbike collided head-on with a container truck travelling in the opposite direction. The road was slippery due to rain at the time of the crash.
The mother and two children were rushed to hospital but were pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Central General Hospital in Can Tho reported that the father sustained severe injuries, including intracranial bleeding, ventricular haemorrhage, and multiple trauma. His prognosis remains poor.
Authorities in Hau Giang Province are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
