The first batches of the one million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines that US Vice President Kamala Harris announced to donate to Vietnam have arrived in Hanoi and HCM City, according to the US Vice President Office.

The office revealed the information when the vice president visited the Vietnam National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Hanoi on Thursday morning.
"270,000 doses were sent to the institute this morning, August 26," the office said. "Another 500,000 doses were sent to Ho Chi Minh City yesterday. And the last 270,000 doses will be sent to Hanoi tomorrow."
Earlier at a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 25 in Hanoi, the US vice president promised to donate the vaccine to Vietnam, bringing the total number of vaccines donated to the country by the US to six million.
Along with the additional vaccines, the US will also provide a sum of USD23 million from the American Rescue Plan and emergency funding through the Centres for Disease Control and the United States Agency for International Development to help Vietnam expand distribution and access to vaccines.
