
More than 180 doctors and nurses from Hanoi’s Bach Mai Hospital left for Ho Chi Minh City on August 2 to help in the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak in the city.
The team is led by the Director of Bach Mai Hospital Nguyen Quang Tuan. They will work together with other medical staff in HCM City and joined with doctors and nurses from Bach Mai Hospital who had gone to HCM City previously to treat seriously ill patients.
On August 1, over 10 tonnes of medical equipment and necessities were also transported from Hanoi to HCM City to set up the Field Hospital 16 in District 7 with 3,000 beds.
As of July 27, over 6,000 medical staff had been sent to HCM City. Staff from major hospitals in the northern region will continue to go to HCM City to help. The team with 35 staff from Friendship Hospital, 17 staff from the National Hospital of Dermatology and many doctors and nurses from K Hospital had gone to HCM City. Vietnam-Germany Hospital said 500 staff have registered to go to southern provinces that are dealing with Covid-19 outbreaks.
For the past month, Vietnam Airlines have arranged 50 flights for 2,600 doctors and nurses and various equipment such as vaccines, ventilators and other items.
