Many localities propose extension of social distancing

Up to 24 localities in Vietnam, including Hanoi, have recommended the extension of the social distancing measures until the end of this month for Covid-19 prevention.

Up to 24 localities in Vietnam, including Hanoi, have recommended the extension of the social distancing measures until the end of this month for Covid-19 prevention.

The National Steering Committee on the Prevention and Control of Covid-19 this morning, April 15, received report from 58 cites and provinces on the implementation of social distancing on April 1-15 under Prime Minster Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s instruction.

Among those, 24 localities have suggested extending the social distancing until the end of April. Meanwhile, three others proposed the extension for at least one week to come.

According to the remaining localities, the social distancing should be applied until no cross-infection case is detected, or this should be removed in localities which have not yet affected by the disease.

Party Secretary of Hanoi Vuong Dinh Hue also proposed the further social distancing until April 30 as the city has seen the rise in Covid-19 patient numbers.

To date, Hanoi has witnessed 113 Covid-19 cases, topping the country, with 51 being discharged from hospital. Among those, 73 patients have been related to the Bach Mai Hospital.

Hanoi has also faced a new outbreak of Covid-19 which is Ha Loi Village in Me Linh District.

The National Steering Committee on the Prevention and Control of Covid-19 have submitted the proposals to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc for consideration.

Under the committee’s recommendation, the prime minister should continue instructing drastic measures in the fight against Covid-19 prevention.

Leaders of localities have the right to decide the social distancing extension which, however, can’t be later than May.
