A range of banks have announced plans to halt the operations of its branches and transaction officers from August 23 to September 6 over stringent anti-virus regulations.

VPBank maintains the operations of only five branches in the districts of Phu Nhuan and Tan Binh and districts 1 and 5. Staff at these branches are conforming to the stay-at-work mode.
Orient Commercial Bank is only operating its trading centre in District 1 and three branches in District 7, Tan Binh District and Thu Duc City. Meanwhile, the others have stopped operating, starting from today until further notice.
Some other banks such as ACB, MB, HDBank, TPBank, MSB and VIB are maintaining the operations of 10-20 branches and transaction offices at present.
Foreign banks in HCM City have followed suit. Since August 23, Shinhan Bank has only opened three branches in Thu Duc City and districts 2 and 3. While HSBC is only operating its office in District 1.
Banks advise people to use online transactions.
