At 3pm on January 26, a man used a fake bomb and fake gun to threaten the staff at the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development - Agribank's Dinh Ke Transaction Office to give him about VND1.1bn (USD48,300) in cash. The man then hopped on a motorbike and ran away from Le Loi Street.
Police quickly found the culprit and arrested Nguyen Duc Minh 20 hours later. They also found some items at his house such as the sticky tape used to make the fake bomb, fake gun, VND600m (USD26,300) kept under the floor and VND300m in the motorbike. Minh admitted to the crime on January 28.

According to the local authorities, Minh is a car dealer. He has married with a clear criminal record. He said he robbed the bank in order to pay off his debts.
