The northern province of Lang Son has called for the transportation of goods to local northern border gates for export to China from now until the Lunar New Year due to slow customs clearance.

The provincial people’s committee has sent a dispatch to other localities telling them not to encourage additional trucks to continue to the area as there are thousands still stuck at local border gates adjacent to China.

According to the committee, some border gates in Lang Son like Tan Thanh and Coc Nam have not yet been reopened for exports to China. Meanwhile, other border gates are being operated at a restricted capacity due to China’s tighter inspections on imports as a Covid-19 prevention measure.

Exporters should temporarily stop the transportation of goods to Lang Son border gates to avoid congestion.

Lang Son authorities have also advised exporters and producers to pay attention to the disinfection and sterilisation of goods for Covid-19 prevention, which would help to speed up the customs clearance.
