This situation is for nearly 20 Quang Hiep Village in Duc Trong Commune households. The crack on the pine hill behind their house has reached 80 metres long, compared to just 20 metres in 2019.

At some locations, the crack extends 1-2 metres deep into the ground, with openings expanding from 1 to 3 metres wide.

Vu Xuan Truong, 42, from Quang Hiep Village, said the crack is 10 to 40 metres and around 30-100 metres away from the houses.

During rainy days, Truong had to take his wife and children to shelter at a relative's house to remain safe.

According to Phan Quang Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hiep Thanh Commune, the recent torrential rain has exacerbated the crack.

Local authorities have installed warning signs and encouraged residents to relocate to safe areas during heavy rainfall. "We're working with concerned agencies to conduct surveys and develop plans to reduce the hilltop load to help prevent landslides," Thanh emphasised.
