Kites set to fly in Da Nang city

As many as 160 competitors will take part in the ninth International kite competition on the beach at the Victoria Hoi An Beach Resort and Spa on May 18.

As many as 160 competitors will take part in the ninth International kite competition on the beach at the Victoria Hoi An Beach Resort and Spa on May 18.

The annual one-day competition is for all visiting foreign and Vietnamese tourists.

All kites will be tested before the competition to make sure they are safe, according to the organising committee.

The event aims to create fun and recreation for tourists visiting Hoi An during the summer vacation, the committee said.

The annual competition has been a rendezvous for kite teams nationwide since 2005.

The Angkor team from Cambodia had been invited to compete in the event.
