The management unit from Vinh Luong Commune in Nha Trang City said there are six Chinese traders who are illegally trading ribon fishes in Vietnam.

They often buy their produce directly from fishermen in the morning before processing them in local factories.

Colonel Ho Thanh Tung, Head of the Khanh Hoa Reconnaissance Office, and Pham Van Huu, deputy chief market manager of the province, said they have only just received the information and are carrying out inspections.

Two Chinese dealers were previously fined in Vinh Luong Port for buying and exporting local seafood without permits.

On July 12, Huynh Ngoc Bong, chief of the Khanh Hoa People's Committee office, received the report on the foreigners' trading activities.

Cam Ranh town has also reported that many enterprises are hiring foreign labourers and letting them travel freely across the border. This is a result of lax management that has caused trouble for border control activities.

Cam Ranh authorities have fined four enterprises VND105 million (USD5,023) for violations in commercial regulations, taxing and illegal labour contracts with foreigners.

The punishment for Truong Thai Hung, chairman of Van Thanh Commune People's Committee, who illegally leased 10,000 square metres of water surface to a Taiwanese enterprise, has yet to be decided. Hung has been reprimanded for his actions.

In early June, 2012, many Chinese organisations and individuals fled the country after their illegal fish trading activities were exposed in the press.
