According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, in July, the country saw 18 railway accidents, killing 12 people and injuring seven others. This represents a rise of nine accidents, five deaths and four injuries compared to the same period last year.

In the first seven months of this year, 106 railway accidents occurred in Vietnam, including 49 cases at unlicensed crossings.
There are still 3,262 unauthorized crossings on national railway lines, posing high risks for traffic accidents.
According to a representative from the Vietnam Railway Authority, a major cause of railway traffic accidents is pedestrians' and road vehicles' lack of attention when crossing railway points.
