At 7 pm on September 8, the Customs Department of Cau Treo Border Gate collaborated with the border guards to catch the trafficker, Nguyen Thi Hong Ha, when she was smuggling 98kg of narcotics into Vietnam. The narcotics were hidden inside five wooden statues with GPS.
Heroin, ketamine, methamphetamine and amphetamines were within the statues.
Ha said she was hired by a man in Laos. She was responsible for bringing the drugs from Vientiane to HCM City.
After expanding the case, the police in HCM City caught six people and captured dozens of kilos of narcotics. The police in Ha Tinh also caught four people and 110kg of methamphetamine and amphetamines in six wooden statues.
