The waters of Hue’s iconic Huong River have become very muddy due to landslides

According to Nguyen Viet Hung, an official from the Thua Thien-Hue province's Department of Natural Resources and Environment, figures from an automatic water monitoring station located in Hue City indicated that some indexes of the river water many times surpass the allowed level, including solid substances and mud.

The problem has been detected right after storm Rai, Hung said. He added that, it was the heavy rain of the storm that led to landslides at the river upstream areas where two roads are currently being built.

Torrential rain also caused serious landslides for a section of Ho Chi Minh Road in A Luoi District, sweeping debris into Huong River.

Hung noted that Thua Thien-Hue Province had informed the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the problem and asked the ministry to urgently assess the impact on landslides on the two road projects.
