Quang Ninh expands free parking in tourism hub

Quang Ninh's Hong Gai Ward has opened seven free public car parks, including several converted from paid parking, to improve access in one of the province's busiest tourism hubs.

More than 400 parking spaces have been added following a review of available land and traffic arrangements. The sites are located near major tourist attractions, shopping areas and the Halong Bay waterfront.

Parking areas have been marked with designated bays and "Free Parking" signs to help drivers identify the facilities and reduce illegal parking on roads and pavements.

Several former paid car parks, including those opposite Vincom Plaza Halong, near Halong Flower Park, behind Tran Hung Dao Primary School and at Bach Dang Theatre, have been converted into free parking.

Hong Gai is home to Halong I Market, waterfront parks, shopping centres and tourism services linked to Halong Bay, attracting large numbers of visitors, particularly during weekends and peak travel periods.

Local authorities said the additional parking spaces would help ease congestion, improve urban order and make it easier for visitors to explore the area. More free parking sites are planned on 25/4 Street, Tran Thai Tong Street and other high-demand locations.
