Ho Chi Minh City looks to serve 3.5 mil. foreign tourists in 2011

In 2011, Ho Chi Minh City expects to receive 3.5 million foreign guests, 11% higher than this year

In 2011, Ho Chi Minh City expects to receive 3.5 million foreign guests, 11% higher than this year, said Mr. La Quoc Khanh, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The city is determined to raise the total revenue of the local tourism industry in 2011 to VND 49,000 billion, 20% increase against 2010.

To realize the targets, the local authorities will launch different campaigns to better service quality, select and honor best local tourism products and services.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City will maintain existing tourism products and open new tours, launch tourist promotion activities, and partake in international tourist events.

On the other hand, the locality will attach more importance to bettering and standardizing human force for the industry.

It is reported that in 2010, the city is supposed to welcome 3.1 million foreign guests, up 20% against last year and meeting 111% of the year target.

The local tourism sector is expected to pocket around VND 41,000 billion this year.
