HCM City Travel Expo hopes to attract inbound tourism

The 16th International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC 2022) will offer Vietnamese and international tourism businesses an opportunity to re-connect, network, exchange experiences and share insights.

The 16th International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC 2022) will offer Vietnamese and international tourism businesses an opportunity to re-connect, network, exchange experiences and share insights.

Titled Growing Forward Together, ITE HCMC 2022, organised by the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, is intended to map out ways of increasing inbound tourism during the post-pandemic period.

According to Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism Director Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, ITE HCMC 2022 is one of the key travel events to promote Vietnam and the Mekong sub-region to international businesses and visitors.

"We’re actively inviting quality international buyers, corporations, partners, as well as travel professionals to network and explore new business opportunities," she said. "The event expects to attract international visitors from both traditional markets as well as new markets to Vietnam in the coming time."

Chief Representative of Korea Tourism Organisation in Vietnam, Lee Jae Hoon, shared that ITE HCMC was a very good platform for Korean travel businesses to connect and network with leading travel agents and operators in Vietnam, as well as a platform for provinces in Korea to showcase diverse destinations and colourful cultures closer to Vietnamese tourists.

"In the framework of ITE HCMC 2022, Korea Tourism Organisation in Vietnam will organise the Korea Night on September 9, 2022," he said. "The Korea Night will be a remarkable event to strengthen the partnership between Korea and Vietnam and celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties."

Director of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau – Ho Chi Minh City Office, Derek Chou, stressed that Vietnam was one of Taiwan's most important tourism markets.

"I was delighted to find out that the Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo 2022 will be officially held this year after the two-year pause due to the epidemic," he said. "Taiwan is expected to organise a grand delegation to participate in ITE HCMC 2022 to promote Taiwan tourism.”

According to the organisers, domestic and international tourism businesses that register to exhibit at ITE HCMC 2022 will get various promotions and benefits.

The event will take place from September 8 to 10 at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre, 799 Nguyen Van Linh Street, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnam officially reopened to international tourists from March 15 this year. Statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism show that international visitors to Vietnam increased sharply in April and May. Vietnam welcomed 80,000 tourists in April and 172,900 in May, bringing the total number of tourists to Vietnam to 365,300 in the first 5 months, unsurprisingly 4.5 times higher than that of the same period last year but is still far behind the expectation of 5 million international tourists for 2022.
