HCM City will reopen its bars, dance clubs and karaoke parlours from January 10 after a long halt because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Duong Anh Duc, deputy chairman of the municipal people's committee, announced the decision on Tuesday following the Department of Culture and Sports’ proposal.

However, the facilities are requested to conform to Covid-19 prevention measures to be reopened, including the minimum density of four square metres per person and keep a minimum distance of one metre between customers.

Staff at bars, clubs and karaoke parlours must either be fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19. Meanwhile, customers must either be fully vaccinated, have recovered, or test negative for Covid-19 within 72 hours.

The municipal people’s committee has asked management agencies to closely supervise the resumption of the establishments.

The pandemic has been basically brought under control in HCM City.

HCM City permitted the resumption of bars, cinemas, spas, and karaoke and massage services in November last year, but only two days later, these establishments were ordered to be halt operations again, with the exception of cinemas.
