
The first three-day festival aims to preserve and promote the city’s culture and history and make use of its waterways to boost the economy and tourism.
Visitors to the festival can take river boat tours and enjoy art performances in the evening, as well as take part in activities and traditional folk games that recreate the lives and culture of the locals of HCM City in the past.

The festival also has stalls selling local cuisine, fruits and specialities along the Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe Canal in District 1 and Binh Dong Wharf in District 8.

Visiting the Bach Dang Wharf and Nhieu Loc Canal at this time, visitors will have opportunities to watch exciting watersport performances such as flyboards, water canoes, and boat sailing.
One of the main festival activities is the Saigon - Tales of the River which is an art performance to be held at 8 pm on August 6 on the Saigon River. The performance of nearly 700 artists will combine traditional stage materials with modern sound and light effects, which is expected to create unique experiences for viewers.

HCM City, which has a population of some 10 million people, has nearly 1,000 kilometres of waterway. Wharves, traditional craft villages, and markets along the rivers and canals have been developed for years and have become a lifestyle and culture in the city for a long time.
