The HCM City People’s Committee has proposed halting 17 projects in order to prioritise more urgent ones.

The HCM City People’s Committee has proposed halting 17 projects in order to prioritise more urgent ones.

The proposal was made during the municipal People’s Council’s on-going meeting, which is scheduled to end on Friday.

The project suspension could help save around VND 1.4 trillion (USD 58.33 million), which would be prioritised for key projects such as the upgrading of Xuyen Tam Canal or the construction of Thu Thiem 4 Bridge.

Up to 11 among the 17 projects are located in Thu Duc City, and the remainder are located in the Hoc Mon, Tan Phu, and Binh Thanh districts.

Projects which have an investment capital of more than VND 100 billion include the expansion of Do Xuan Hop Road and an overpass before New Mien Dong Station, as well as the construction of Nguyen Duy Trinh Road. The remaining projects are mainly small-scaled.

On this occasion, the HCM City People’s Committee has proposed adding VND 2.17 trillion for six urgent projects in six districts and VND 6.65 trillion for dredging and upgrading of Xuyen Tam Canal.
