Ho Chi Minh City is expected to experience widespread rainfall from June 7 to 11, with total precipitation ranging from 200 to 250 millimetres in most areas and potentially exceeding 300 millimetres in some locations, according to the Southern and Central Highlands Hydrometeorological Centre.
The centre warned that the rain may be accompanied by thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong winds. Heavy downpours could lead to localised flooding, particularly in low-lying neighbourhoods and areas along rivers and canals. Authorities have urged residents to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
The city and the broader southern region are forecast to be impacted over the next 10 days by several rain-bearing weather systems, including a strengthening southwest monsoon and shifting low-pressure troughs.
Temperatures are expected to be lower than in May, with average daily readings between 27.5 and 29.5 degrees Celsius. Highs are projected to reach 31 to 34 degrees Celsius, occasionally topping 35 degrees, while lows will range from 23 to 27 degrees. Rainfall is forecast to be above average, particularly in mid to late June, with more than 20 rainy days anticipated.
