The city created 123,394 jobs during the six-month period, equivalent to 68.6 per cent of its 2026 employment target, according to the municipal Department of Home Affairs.
To connect job seekers with employers, the city's Employment Service Centre and Youth Employment Service Centre jointly organised 145 job fairs in the first half of the year.
Labour demand was concentrated in manufacturing, electronics, mechanical engineering, logistics, information technology, trade and other high-value service sectors.
The department said employers are increasingly seeking workers with technical skills, professional qualifications and the ability to adapt to digital transformation and automated production.
Despite strong hiring demand, many businesses continue to face difficulties recruiting qualified workers, highlighting a growing skills gap in the labour market.
Closer cooperation between vocational training institutions, businesses and employment service providers would help align workforce skills with market demand.
