Fire broke out at an induction cooker shop in HCM City’s Tan Phu District early this morning, claiming four deaths.

Colonel Le Tan Buu, head of the city's Fire Prevention and Control Police Board, said that the incident happened at the house at 423 on Luy Ban Bich Street at around 4 am while the family was still sleeping.

According to initial reports, four of the five members of the family died of the fire, while one elderly woman who escaped from the fire by jumping from the second floor to the street was seriously injured.

Le Van Tam, who lived opposite to the cooker shop, said that in the early morning, he heard screams to call for help. When he rushed to the street, he saw the house dramatically burst into flames. But, the iron gate and glass door were both closed, so no one couldn’t help them.

Right after that, a crane which was passing by the house helped to break the gate before the fire truck came. At that time, the fire was blazing at the first floor and no one could get out of the house.
