The blistering heat left streets deserted and drove up the public’s demand for water and power usage.

The Hanoi Water Company reported that during these sweltering days, the water demand reached approximately 1.04 million - 1.06 million cu.m per day, an increase of 12% compared to cooler days.

At the same time, power usage in Hanoi rose to 63 million kWh per day on June 1 and 71.6 million kWh on June 2, up 129% over the the last month. The Hanoi Electricity Company has received 385 calls reporting overloaded transformer stations or sudden surges, with the company solving the incidents to ensure electricity supply for its customers.

It is forecast that from June 3-5, due to the impact of a hot low pressure combined with strong dry winds from the west, the heat wave will continue in the northern region and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen in the central region, as well as central regions with temperatures ranging from 37 to 40 degrees Celsius.
