The complex is located at No 5 Thanh Cong Street, in the middle of a densely populated area of Giang Vo Ward.

The project is seen as a pioneering step in implementing major social welfare policies, adapting proactively to an ageing population and improving quality of life for Hanoi residents.

Built on an area of about 2,000 square metres, the complex has nine above-ground floors and two basement levels, with total floor space of more than 8,000 square metres.

With about VND 600 billion (USD 23.1 million) invested in construction and operational equipment, the facility has been designed as an integrated healthcare system covering medical examination and treatment, care and rehabilitation.

It houses the Thanh Cong branch of Hanoi Medical University Hospital's general clinic. The complex also includes apartments combined with healthcare services based on Japanese standards, as well as a Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre.

The project is expected to meet the on-site healthcare needs of nearly 100,000 residents in Giang Vo and neighbouring wards, helping ease pressure on higher-level hospitals and improve residents' wellbeing.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Lan Hieu, director of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, said the complex has a comprehensive outpatient area, a fully equipped emergency department staffed by experienced medical professionals, as well as dedicated rehabilitation, physiotherapy and nutritional services for older people.

It also includes spaces for social activities and exercise, he said.

More importantly, Hieu said, elderly residents staying at the complex can still feel as though they are living in their own homes.

“Each apartment is designed like a warm and welcoming home, but inside is a comprehensive system of procedures and equipment to ensure safety in any health emergency,” Hieu said.
