High schools and vocational and further education facilities in Hanoi will be reopened from early next week after a long closure as part of Covid-19 prevention efforts.

The Hanoi People’s Committee has agreed on the local Department of Education and Training’s proposal on allowing high schools and vocational and continuing education facilities in districts and towns with low or medium coronavirus risks, which have recorded no community transmission cases within 14 days by November 30, to return to school from December 6.

Students aged between 12 and 17 in Hanoi are being provided with Covid-19 vaccination

However, students will be only permitted to study directly at school in the morning or in the afternoon with no meals provided by schools, instead of a full day as before. Students have to bring their own water to class.

Meanwhile, students at primary and secondary schools in Hanoi will continue studying online.

Schools which have students living in different areas need to update the pandemic situation to arrange studying for their students.

Teachers are requested to be fully-vaccinated against Covid-19 before returning to school.

Earlier, around 3,800 Grade 9 students in Hanoi’s outlying district of Ba Vi returned to school from November 8.
