Torrential rain caused severe landslides on the Hanoi-Dong Dang railway line from May 9-10.

The Hanoi-Dong Dang railway route


Vietnam Railway Corporation mobilised nearly 600 staff to deal with some 30 affected spots on the route. The section near Mai Tung Bridge was hardest hit. The teams were divided into three shifts to work around the clock.

Pham Duc Khai, head of Hanoi-Dong Dang Station, said that the landslides had resolved and the whole route had resumed since this morning, May 14.

Lang Son faces an estimated loss of roughly VND390 billion (USD16.81 million) in storm damage from heavy rains during May 9-10. Up to 4,962 hectares of local crops have been submerged. Rain also damaged 231 local houses.
