The move comes while the country is focusing efforts on supporting people affected by the Typhoon Yagi and rebuilding facilities in their areas.
Speaking at a Tuesday meeting, Hanoi Party Secretary Bui Thi Minh Hoai said as a capital city, Hanoi wanted to share the losses with localities that had been hard hit by the recent natural disasters.
The city earlier planned to display fireworks in 30 districts and towns, including high - and low-altitude firework shows at the My Dinh National Stadium, Hanoi Post Office, Lac Long Quan Flower Garden, among others.
Typhoon Yagi, the strongest storm to hit Vietnam in 70 years, caused devastating consequences in 26 northern provinces, leaving nearly 230 dead and 34 missing. Heavy rains triggered widespread flooding and landslides in the region, affecting more than 70,000 households.
