The Mines Advisory Group (MAG), a humanitarian demining organisation, said on March 31 that a staff member at an eco-tourism site in Thuong Trach Commune found the unexploded ordnance near a stream during a routine inspection.

MAG’s emergency response team was sent to the scene and carried out an on-site controlled detonation, eliminating the threat.
According to the person who reported the find, the area is a popular destination known for activities such as stream bathing, ziplining and camping.
MAG has operated in Vietnam since 1999, clearing more than 400,000 explosive remnants of war and surveying more than 300 square kilometres of land in Quang Tri and Danang.
Its operations are supported by the governments of the United States, Japan and Canada, contributing to safer living conditions for local communities.
