Ship catches fire on Halong Bay on April 10

At 10:30am on April 10, the cruise ship named QN3736 burst into flames on its return from a one-day tour to Trong Mai Island on Ha Long Bay.

The ship was transporting 17 passengers, including 15 foreigners. Luckily, all of the passengers were moved to other ships and then went to the shore safely. There were no casualties or serious injuries reported.

The fire prevention and control force extinguished the fire and pulled the ship to the shore, but not before part of the ship had been destroyed.

Authorities are now conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident. They have also checked the operations of all cruise ships on Halong Bay.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Dang Van Thinh, Head of the Marine Police Office in Quang Ninh Province, was cited by VOV as saying that the primary cause of the accident was an electrical short in the cooking area.
