The hail which lasted for around 15 minutes occurred in some areas of the mountainous district of Ky Son such as Muong Tip and Huu Kiem communeson Tuesday afternoon. Dozens of hectares of crops have been severely hit.

Hailstones had diameters of between 1-3 cm.
The incident also damaged many trees and electric poles.
Local authorities are estimating total losses and helping the affected households.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the central localities from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue would see more rains today, April 22.
Meanwhile, the northern region has been forecasted to see another light cold snap on April 22-24.
