PM Dung made the request while presiding over the annual meeting between the Government and the VFF in Hanoi on January 6 to review cooperative work in 2011 and set tasks for 2012.

The two agencies have cooperated to promote great national unity in building a socialist law-governed State and administrative governments at all levels.

They accelerated national emulation movements and improved the quality of campaigns to overcome difficulties and maintain social and political stability, sustain economic growth and ensure social welfare.

President of the VFF Central Committee Huynh Dam said, despite the difficult economic situation, VND6,600 billion was raised to help the poor, the highest figure recorded in the past decade.

Participants at the meeting proposed that the Government introduce policies to encourage intellectuals to contribute to national construction, and people from all walks of life to join hands in implementing national emulation movements and setting goals for the future.

PM Dung appreciated the VFF and its members’ effective contributions to the successful organization of the 11th National Party congress and the elections to the 13th National Assembly and People’s Councils, as well as other movements and campaigns to fulfill the 2011 socio-economic development goals.

Coordination between the Government and the VFF contributed significantly to national achievements, he said.

Mr Dung urged the VFF to strengthen cooperation with the Government, especially towards achieving socio-economic development goals, including keeping inflation at a single digit, stabilizing the macroeconomy, maintaining a 6 percent growth rate, ensuring social welfare, restructuring the economy and renovating country’s growth model.

The government leader said he hopes the VFF will continue to promote great national unity and involve intellectuals, officials, regions, ethnic minorities and overseas Vietnamese in the cause of national development.

The Government and the VFF will also work together to support poor and disadvantaged people to have a warm and happy Tet holday, he said.
