The torrential rain has caused flooding in the la Glae 2 hydropower plant area, breaking the plant’s dam.

Around 23.8 hectares of crops and plantations in Gia Lai have been damaged damaged due to the breaking of la Glae 2 hydropower plant's dam

As a result, as many as 23.3 hectares of crops and trees, including coffee, pepper, cashew, banana and coconut nearby were harmed. This area belongs to 19 households in Ia Ga Commune.

Nguyen Huu Que, Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai People's Committee, led a delegation to inspect the site and instructed Chu Prong District authorities to co-operate with concerned agencies to find the cause of the dam breaking. Any possible violations must be strictly dealt with.

Que also urged the district to take measures to support the households which were affected by the hydroelectric dam incident.

The central and Central Highlands region of Vietnam are struggling with heavy rains, resulting in inundation in many areas.
