Gbike (Gbike Co., Ltd) - a Korean micro-mobility tech company announced that they had signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) with Bespin Global’s Vietnamese subsidiary ‘Bespin Global Vietnam’, a cloud delivery platform company, to jointly promote Smart Transportation across Vietnam, starting from a public bike-sharing project named “Green Bikes with Vietnam” for small and medium cities in Vietnam.

 Mr. Yoon Jongsu, CEO of Gbike ,Mr. Kim Tae Ho, Country Director of Bespin Global Vietnam, signed Memorandum of Understanding at Gbike office in South Korea.


The project "Green Bikes with Vietnam" will be operated in ‘THT-Bespin Smart City HUB’ (SmartCity HUB), a smart city operation & management platform, jointly developed and operated by Bespin Global Vietnam and THT Development. It will be operated and widely popularized by Gbike, Asia’s leading micro-mobility company, who has successfully operated in 90 cities in Korea and abroad. Together with Vietnam’s leading digital payment gateway, MOMO, the project aims to develop a bike-sharing platform for the Vietnamese.

Under the agreement, Gbike will provide smart mobility solutions across Vietnam based on the SmartCity HUB platform. The two companies plan to  establish  a strategic  cooperation based on their  respective core competencies and technologies. The project will be piloted in two central cities of Hue and Da Nang and later expanded to 60 second-tier cities with population from 300,000 to 1 million people across Vietnam.

Gbike is currently operating a micro-mobility sharing service in major cities in Korea, the US, and Thailand, and plans to launch service in Vietnam and Guam soon. Gbike's cumulative sales to date are 100 billion KRW (77 million USD), and it has attracted investment from Strong Ventures, Cymax, SBI Investment, Premier Partners, Yuanta Investment, and Mirae Asset.

Gbike came first in Asia with sales of 33.5 billion KRW (26 million USD) in 2021. In 2022, it recorded the sales of 53 billion KRW (40 million USD), up 60% from the previous year, marking the highest performance for two consecutive years.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Yoon Jongsu, CEO of Gbike emphasized: "We have transformed urban life patterns to be more eco-friendly with the operation of micro-mobility sharing services in Korea, Thailand, and Southeast Asia. We are happy to draw the future of Vietnam's smart city with a short-distance eco-friendly transportation sharing service, which will be one of the pillars of transportation in the future.”

Mr. Kim Tae Ho - Country Director of Bespin Global Vietnam stated: "Hue is  not only a well-known historical and cultural city in central Vietnam, but also one of the six municipalities of Vietnam, following Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang and Can Tho. Hue is considered one of the fastest growing areas in Vietnam, with the international airport terminal expected to open by the end of March. We expect the rapid growth of GCOO service of Gbike, with the combination of Vietnam's first open smart city platform "SmartCity HUB" and Vietnam's leading e-wallet MOMO. All these efforts aim to provide tourists and Vietnamese youth with the latest trends, technologies, and lifestyles.”

Smart city development is a trend for national development and economic development in Vietnam. “SmartCity HUB” is an open smart city platform co-developed by Daewoo E&C THT Development and Bespin Global Vietnam and is being used to operate and manage THT Starlake Smart City in Hanoi. As increasing numbers of smart cities are developed in Vietnam, this strategic partnership is expected to ensure the sustainable growth of those cities across Vietnam.
